This 3D katana blends intricate detailing with unique, client-driven design elements. The polished blade is paired with fittings and a tsuba (guard) inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics. At the client’s request, I designed a custom dragon-themed tsuba, a key challenge that required conceptualizing an original motif to balance elegance with thematic flair.

Another major challenge was crafting the tsukamaki (handle binding), which involved learning a new technique to accurately depict the interwoven texture. Using an iterative workflow, I refined patterns and ornaments for both the tsuba and handle to align seamlessly with the client’s vision.

The result is a high-quality asset for games and animations, and the project provided valuable experience in tackling complex design and detailing challenges.
